Vasian (Vase-ian)

"Every nation has their sects of scholars and intellectuals, philosophers and historians, yet for the Vesians, you will find that every member of their society belongs to all four."   - Aulus Cyprias, Astrican Historian
The Vasians are a powerful state of humans along the Southern coast of Igrora. They are expert traders, philosophers, and warriors. They have little magic within their society, and those who do practice are considered sages who hold powerful positions within their society. The Vasians are somewhat of an ancient empire, justified by records of trade between themselves and the Yekai thousands of years ago. It's assumed that the Vasians appeared around the same time of the Yekai, leaving scholars perplexed on what humans truly occupied Shaeral first. Regardless, the Vasians have built themselves a powerful society centered around logic, reason, and science.

History

According to Vasian records, the Vasians first appeared around the 1st Aeta, lining up with possible records of the Yekai's arrival as well. Early Vasian history is marked by a period of violence, where dozens upon dozens of small city states and holdings warred with each other for hundreds of years. It was not until a great conqueror known as Phrixis (also known simply as the Chosen Vasian) united all of the city states under his direct control in a great series of wars. Phrixis' campaign took nearly twenty years, and were followed by a peaceful reign. Phrixis ruled as the sole leader of all of the city states, but near his death, he instituted a forum of leaders, known as Phrixis' Forum, which is a body of locally elected leaders who represent needs and desires of each region of Vasia. Phrixis' Forum is led by a Milokrates, who is in command of all military forces of Vasia. The Milokrates can veto propositions and proposals, but cannot vote in their passing. The Milokrates is entrusted in ensuring that rash or otherwise foolish decisions are not pushed by the masses.     Now, the Vasians host a vibrant nation, full of riches and rare goods. They have established a powerful and strong navy, allowing them to trade throughout all of the realms. They are historically friendly with neighbors, and often take more reclusive policies to keep their borders secure and strong. Vasian philosophers and scholars often travel to foreign lands, gaining knowledge and insight to bring back home.

Culture

Vasian culture is built around the idea of taking in as much as the world as possible to incorporate the best qualities of life, and to deter the worse of it. The culture is both unified in some aspects, but still holds unique sections mostly defined by the city that a Vasian is from. Some cities are more militaristic in nature, providing a bulk of Vasia's fighters, while others are more focused on trade, scholarly endeavors, or politicking.

Organization

Each City is ruled by a Aratus, who runs bigger picture changes and motions. Typically, underneath an Aratus are several Lamachos, who manage smaller sections or neighborhoods of a city, and serve within a council. Above the Aratus are members of Phrixis' Forum, who are elected Aratuses. At the top of the pyramid sits the Milokrates, who serves as both commander of armed forces and the head of the Forum.
