Rubindium

Rubindium is a gemstone used in subcutaneous transponders and other communications technology commonly found in the Federation. It can create a primitive laser when properly fashioned. Rubindium is key to constructing and repairing transtators, and is an essential component of combadges, transporters, phasers, and ship power systems. Rubindium can commonly be found on K-Class worlds with low levels of oxygen and denser atmospheres of methane and nitrogen.

Used in subcutaneous transponders and other communications technology. It could also be used to emit a powerful laser beam.
