2 February 2024 - Session Thirteen Attending: Abel (Erica), Arwyn (Dojin), Ben (GM), David (Graal), Tracey (Callie), Walter (Tavor “Tave” Eejelb)
Absent: No one
Last Episode: Erica and Callie earned seven diplomatic successes and unified the AI and Humanoid factions. Three Faction Council set up. We were able to leave!
We visited 0158. Wanted a place with plants and rocks. Nowhere suitable for colonists, but put a flag down for mining.
Then visited 0087. Third planet caught our attention due to quantum signatures. Alien ship of unknown origins. No response to comms.
We landed and are investigating the ship. It’s three levels. No escape modules missing or hull breaches. Graal opened up its rear entrance and a buggy. Lots of tools and such. Callie and Graal managed to get the engines started. Reactor was shut down due to a power surge in the past. Quantum signatures were increasing. They found the lift, and headed up to the top level. Found some bodies. Eyes may have been sensitive to light. They were in a makeshift lab or torture room.
And now….
Callie does a scan of the two bodies in this room. They have a strong quantum signature. They seemed to have moved realities. Her readings have amplified the signature off the charts. It’s powering up and it looks like its about to do something!
The signature is coming from another universe. These two dead bodies are from another universe. The signals are like residue from a warp trail.
We devise a strategy. Dojin will try to do an emergency shutdown of the engine. Graal will join him.
Erica, Tavor, and Callie will try and get to the source of the readings.
Graal and Dojin successfully do a site to site transport to the engine room.
Tavor, Callie, and Erica scan to get a direction beacon to the source of the readings.
Erica discovers the source. It gives off a quantum charge that will potentially transport or open a gateway to another universe.
Tavor works out the language in which the equipment screens are written.
Back in Engineering. Graal and Dojin work out not only how to shut it down, but also how to maintain emergency power. We report our progress to Callie.
Dojin tries to access the Chief Engineer’s logs but he isn’t able to get through the strange encryption. Then Graal looms behind and puts a paw out and push the right button at just the right time.
According to the logs, the Engineer was concerned with getting enough power to the first floor. It gave them enough power, but they weren’t able to control it. It took them some time to get the right amount of power. Last log was them rushing around.
Meanwhile, Tavor is able to determine that this ship is from the Vinshari System, but in their own universe.
Callie gives us the order to shut the engines down. Erica believes we should be worried because it could transfer us to the mirror universe or vice versa.
We shut down power, but it’s still emitting a quantum signature, but vastly reduced in power. We’ve averted danger for the moment.
