The Great Quake
Eight hundred and twenty seven years ago The Traveller wreaked havoc upon the continent during it's first appearance. It wasn't an apocalyptic event, but it did cause widespread devastation and panic. The surface of the continent was changed forever, as were it's Peoples.
Manifestation
The size and proximity of The Traveller as it passed by that first time, caused seismic events across the planet. The continent of Ebica was nearly torn in half as a massive rift opened up. Tsunamis and volcanoes devasted the coastal and mountain regions and earthquakes shook the whole landmass.
Localization
The Southern jungle cities of the Elves were almost all completely destroyed by the tsunamis which swept in from the southern coast. The east coast was also engulfed in water as the sea rolled in, swallowing the human coastal settlements. Up in the north, along the mountains, volcanoes and avalanches buried many Gnomish settlements, and ash clouds and toxic gasses made other areas uninhabitabe for a long time.
The central plains escaped these dangers, being so far inland, but were not immune from the earthquakes that shook the land. The majority of towns and villages were completely flattened while the cities took heavy damage. To the west of the plains a large rift opened up splitting the continent nearly in two. This also caused the Synkar hills to form as the land wrinkled around the rift.
Type
Natural
Survivors of the coastal and mountain disasters, fled inland to the central plains. They received a lukewarm reception from the Humans of those cities at first, as they were dealing with their own after effects of the Quake. However, they quickly realised that more hands meant faster building, and the efugees had brought a plethora of skills with them to aid in this process.
