Hybrids
In lore, a hybrid is created by cross-breeding two different sentient species. Hybrids universally have a negative reputation due to the original species looking at them as abominations, but there are exceptions, and of course, exceptions depending on the culture, individual, etc. Hybrids are known to be the strongest, taking the strengths of both parents, but also their weaknesses. Due to supernatural creatures having far more defects than humans, many hybrids are part human and part supernatural. This allows them to have little to no weaknesses that their parents hold, but all of their parents' strengths and advantages.
Well-Known Hybrids
Vaewolf: commonly known to many as either hybrid or Vaewolves, is the mixture of vampire and werewolf genes. There are only two ways for a Vaewolf to come into existence. The first way is for a naturally born werewolf to be cursed by a witch using pure vampire blood. The second is that they are naturally born since Vaewolves can reproduce. Taking the powerful characteristics of both species, Vaewolves are stronger than their counterparts and despised by both werewolves and vampires.
Half-Fae: sometimes referred to as a halfling. Half-fae's are one of the only hybrids that aren't mercilessly hunted down by their own species. Though vague, half-fae typically refer to the union between human and faerie but can also refer to faerie and witches and were unions. This causes the half-fae species list to be wide and various, and even sometimes leading into tribrids.
Cambion: Cambions are the offspring between a demon, more often than not an incubus or succubus, and a human. Half human and half demon, these hybrids are stronger than their demon counterparts and are not harmed by exorcisms, holy water, etc. Due to their human nature, it is possible for a cambion to fluctuate between human balanced, a balanced state, and demon balanced. This balance will change the nature of the cambion and the abilities that they can wield. Usually not sanctioned, cambions are hunted down by both human, angel, and demon hunters.
Nephilim: Nephilims are the offspring between an angel, typically one that has turned their back to Elysium, and a human. Half human and half angel, these hybrids are stronger than their angelic counterparts and are not harmed by holy fire, do not have angelic grace to hinder them, some wardings etc. Due to their human nature, it is possible for a nephilim to fluctuate between human balanced, a balanced state, and angel balanced. This balance will change the nature of the nephilim and the abilities that they can wield. Usually not sanctioned, nephilims are hunted down by both human, and angel hunters.
Skinwalker: are the offspring of a shapeshifter with either a witch or a were. Skinwalkers have not only the ability to shift into other humans but also animals. Unlike were's, they are not limited to one breed or one specific species. Skinwalkers are another example of hybrids that are not disliked and hunted.
Siren: a siren is a crossbreed between mermaid and vampire. Sirens are not rare but they are not as common as some many think, mostly due to the fact that mermaids and vampires don't typically meet one another to truly grown the siren line. Those that do exist have sharper and longer fangs than mermaids that resemble those of vampires. They have the ability to manipulate their prey with gazes and words, similar to vampires, and after drowning their prey, will feast on them. Though not hated amongst the vampire population, mermaids hunt them down mercilessly due to sirens and their monstrous appetites.
Tribrids and Others
A tribrid is an incredibly rare and extremely powerful being that has origins of three different species, none of which can be human. There has only been a few tribrids to ever exist and none have ever lived long enough to have done anything remarkable. Out of the four that have come into existence, three of them were faerie - witch - were tribrids, the other was a werewolf - vampire - witch hybrid. None of them lived over the age of twenty. There are also other hybrids, for example witch and vampire. They are not as common as other hybrids and therefore are forgotten quite easily. Either that, or they are not as powerful and don't truly constitute as another group entirely.
