The Academical Society of Amaal

Structure

The organization regroups a lot of scientists, erudits and scholars, named academicians. They work under the direction of a comitee of peers, named by the lord of Amaal, but mostly under the influence of one's connections. The comitee then decides which research projects are launched, and the budgets assigned to said projects.

Public Agenda

At first, the ASA was created with a military goal, and was supposed to lead military development, organization, industry, supply... Its objectives have widened a lot since then, as the society moved forward and escaped the control of the Service

Assets

The society's headquarters are in the center of Amaal, in the fifth level. The society gets large subventions from the city's government, and gains additional money from developing patents, commercialization of inventions and discoveries, as well as montlhy publications of its works, which are bought by a large proportion of wealthy and educated people.

History

The previously-named SSA was created in 712.II, a few years after the construction of Amaal. Its works focused on military strategy, technology, and all war-related research. The SSA is one of the main actors in the creation of The Service in 721.II. Its name changed in Academical Society in 756.II, and its fields of work widened to many scientific fields, including mathematics, physics, architecture and geology. Surprizingly, the naturalist division has been created only in 791.II, to catch up with an independent group of naturalists who made huge breakthroughs in the description of fauna and flora across Boomal.
