Hossa

(a.k.a. The Sky Serpent, The Sun Snake)

Lore

Hossa is the Serpent God of the Sun, a deity who commands the power of the celestial fire. He is often depicted as a massive serpent with scales that shimmer like the sun's rays, his eyes burning with an eternal flame. Hossa holds dominion over the sun and the life-giving warmth it provides, but he also controls its destructive power.   In ancient times, Hossa was both revered and feared. His followers, known as the Sun-Blessed, would conduct elaborate rituals at dawn to gain his favor, hoping to harness the power of fire and sunlight. Hossa is said to have bestowed fire upon his most devout followers, allowing them to wield it as both a tool and a weapon. However, he would withhold this gift from those he deemed unworthy, casting them into darkness and cold.   Hossa's cruelty is legendary. He delights in incinerating those who betray or displease him, turning them to ashes with a mere glance. Entire villages have been scorched to the ground for minor slights against him. His wrath is as unpredictable as it is devastating, with solar flares and wildfires often seen as manifestations of his anger.   His temples were often located in high, sun-drenched places, where the faithful could bask in his glory. However, these temples also served as places of punishment, where those who failed him were burned alive as offerings.
