Man of the north/ Kurhad
tens of thousands of years ago Sakuska, the creator deity, sired 4 children,1 child born at the beginning of each season, the other three don't matter for now, the one that matters is the man of the man of the north, Kurahd.
Kurahd was born to a group of barbarians, they were grouped up in a small icey cave, getting ready to rest for the winter, when Freya began to scream. She was about 8 or 9 months pregnant, it appeared that it was time... but something wasn't right.
the baby was kicking her stomach repeatedly, almost trying to crawl out.
no one knew what to do, this had never happened before.
eventually, Freya started coughing up blood, and the baby's hands clawed through her stomache, emerging, covered in gore. Freya did not make it, but the newly-born Kurahd did.
Kurahd was about 50% bigger than the normal baby and had oddly defined muscles, but he aged at a normal rate. Freya's younger sister decided to take care of baby Kurahd, who was a very calm baby, despite his very violent entrance to the world. Kurahd never reacted in fear, once when he was five he choked out a full-grown wolf with the most unbothered expression on his face.
another time, he was about 10 this time, he got bit by a deadly snake, and the entire barbarian clan watched as he just sucked on the bite and spit the venom out.
When Kurahd finished growing he stood at an intimidating 9 feet tall. the moment Kurahd hit 18 he challenged the barbarian leader for his throne, it was the closest Kurhad ever got to dying, but he still made it through, cutting the barbarian leader's head clean off his neck.
he started changing the ways of his clan before he saw his clan waste big chunks of animals when they could be easily used for things other than meat. they started using the entire animal, making clothes from their pelts, and turning their antlers into horns.
the clan benefitted from it, and their quality of life went up drastically.
his clan started growing, in his 30s they were building villages, in his 50s they were building castles. his warriors were powerful, not because of their build, but because of their iron will, and their unwillingness to die. eventually, other people noticed Kurahd's power, so other nearby kingdoms rallied together and staged an all-out attack on Kurahd's kingdom.
the battles lasted for days, many lives were lost, almost all of Kurahd's people were lost, it was only him and around 2 dozen others.
Kurahd had 6 or 7 arrows stuck in his back, he lost a lot of blood, and he knew his chance of dying was likely, so, with no fear, he charged into the hoard of enemies. he cut down 4 or 5 with each slash of his great axe, but each time he got cut more and more, eventually, the allied kings took him down, but he died how he lived, fearless.
when Kurahd woke up, he saw his father in front of him, sitting on a throne.
Sakuska explained to him that he was a god, one of the 5 or 6 in the world at the moment. he was the god of all that is ice and snow, he would embody the unforgiving winter, and he became the man of the north.
much like the region he controls, the man of the north is cold and unforgiving.
those who worship him must stay to his strict ideals, if a worshiper of the north strays from his path in the slightest way possible, he will take their given power. due to this, there aren't many worshipers of the north that become warriors, since they could make the wrong move in the heat of battle then and there, losing their powers and becoming some normal guy with a shield and an axe. but what are this man's ideals? what rules must his followers live by?
all in all, it's pretty simple.
1: never hunt for sport, use what you kill.
2: get as much as you can out of what you hunt.
3: only fight those who can fight back.
4: die on a battlefield.
5: Never give physical offerings, the man of the north feeds off courage and rage.
6: when its time for you to die, don't fear it, embrace it.
