Man of the south/ Shoju
tens of thousands of years ago Sakuska, the creator deity, sired 4 children,1 child born at the beginning of each season, the other three don't matter for now, the one that matters is the man of the south, Shoju.
instead of a traditional birth Shoju was created when Sakuska stumbled upon a painting of a young baby boy, it was hung up in a painter's shop, and he was so entranced by the painting that he decided to make it real. he manifested a baby on the painter's door and went back to the heavens, he watched intently as the baby grew.
Shoju was a weird kid, he was quiet, even as a baby. He would paint and play instruments instead of going to gatherings and meeting people. when he turned 18 he was forced to sign up for the military, as there was a war raging on and they needed soldiers. he wasn't very good with the sword or the bow, but he had an innate ability to dodge attacks, he was nearly unhittable. Like any soldier, he had trauma, but he dealt with it by doing what he loved best, painting and playing the instrument. at first other people didn't pay attention to him, but the more he played the more people gathered, the music comforted the wounded soldiers, and the paintings reminded them of better times. after the war, Shoju decided to help his mother with her art store. he was even quieter before, as he was traumatized from the war, but he would supply all sorts of arts for his mother's shop, and he would perform outside the shop and get a bit of money, but not much.
this continued for another decade or so until a group of barbarian raiders invaded his small village, houses burning, and people being cut into bits, it was just like the war. he knew he couldn't do a thing, there were dozens of them and only one of him, he was no fighter, but he wouldn't die running away. he sat down right in the middle of the street and started to play, an arrow flew into his soldier, and he kept playing. a soldier walked up to him and took a swing, Shoju dodged out of the way. swing after swing the soldier tried to kill him, getting angrier and angrier with each miss. Shoju kept dodging, more soldiers came up to him, and they started to corner him, one cut him in the side, and he kept playing. he used one of the barbarian's swords to jump and flip over the soldiers, getting out of the close death. Shoju had no idea what had come over him, he felt like a divine energy was coming from his fingers, and he felt a desire... to play.
eventually, the soldiers drew their bows, and they started firing a flurry of arrows, one went into his stomach, the other took a piece of his ear, and he kept playing. the music got louder and louder, and eventually, it drew over the barbarian's leader, a big muscly guy with a big greatsword, he ran at Shoju, cut his leg off, and kept playing. the other soldier came in, they cut off his foot, they kept playing, they chopped off his left arm, and he kept playing. they cut off his head, he kept playing. eventually, he was just a pile of bits, and finally, he stopped playing, but they spent so long chasing this bard that it gave the rest of the village enough time to escape, as well as enough time for soldiers to ride in.
when Shoju woke up he was greeted by his father "My boy, my proudest creation, your art shows no bounds, even after you die your music rings through the lands of the south, thats why I am making you the embodiment of the south, the man of the south.
the man of the south is a man of art and technique, he lives by the ideal that everything you do must have a purpose, and his worshipers, to get closer to him, also follow this ideal.
However, this isn't required to worship the man of the south, his people just do this to make him happy, but he just finds it amusing, like how a child copies their parents.
his ideals true ideals are:
1: do what makes you happy
2: do what you do with technique and creativity 3: unlike his brother, he doesn't mind physical offerings, but he prefers performances of any art, from music to sword fighting.
Similar to his brother, he's pretty strict on following his ideals, but if you step out of line mid battle he won't just steal your powers on the spot, he'll wait until after the battle, and he might even take you back if you do some grand gesture.
