Nordyr, god of the hunt
god of: hunting and tracking
Nordyr is an old beast, one of the oldest beasts to ever live. He's part of a race of creatures called the Dodsel, they only reproduce when they die, and they never die of old age. Dodsel have some of the thickest hides in the entire realm, and they have eyes looking in nearly every direction, it cannot be surprised. additionally, Dodsel are extremely fast, they can easily outpace most flying creatures. Kurhad had his eyes set on the beast. he respected the beast, it defied his ways and did it well. after a month straight of chasing the beast, he was finally able to catch up to the beast. instead of doing some cheap trick or trying to make a break for it, he accepted defeat. seeing this, Kurhad decided to let the creature live. after that, the creature followed him home. they had a mutual respect. Nordyr was known as his pet, but he was more of a friend than a beast. Kurhad showed this respect by having a priest inscribe him with a glyph of shrinking, making him even harder to catch.
when Kurhad was slain Nordyr fled, a small army followed behind him, they could not catch up, his new magical shrinking glyph made him truly impossible to catch. ever since then, no a single creature has touched Nordyr's hide.
its said that if your able to catch and kill Nordyr Kurhad will make you a god. this has made Nordyr the ultimate catch for any hunter. many have lost their minds and lives chasing this creature, no one can ever get within 60ft of it without it running away at lightning speed.
your hunt is considered blessed by Nordyr when you see his tracks while hunting down another creature.
no one really worships Nordyr, he's not technically a god in the first place. the closest he has to worshipers are hunters looking to get a blessed hunt, they do this by leaving bits of divine candy (a candy made from the bodies of spirits) on the ground before they rest, if they wake in the morning to find half eaten/ no candies, their hunt is blessed, if the candies are uneaten then the hunt is unblessed and will probably be unsuccessful.
but how does Nordyr bless a hunt? no one knows for sure, but its believed he has a spirit under his command that can control the minds of animals, and he uses the spirit to make the animals do stupid things, like stand in the middle of a clearing.
the only other god Nordyr has a relationship with is Kurhad, he doesn't hate or like anyone else.
