Utsuku, God of Nature
Utsuku, God of Beauty and Forests
One day, in the early days of Borohiem, Shoju was walking through the forests of Tachihon, when he happened upon a clearing with a tree in the center of it, the tree was an oddity to so the least, its leaves were nearly blue, and its bark was much smoother than any other tree in the forest. Shoju decided this would be a great place to rest.
he sat down, took out his lute, and began to play. The beautiful sounds of the instrument floated in the air, and the whole forest went quiet as if it was listening. Eventually, Shoju finished playing, got up, and started exploring again. Over a few weeks, a bud began to grow on the tree, eventually, the bud opened, and a small baby popped out. Conveniently, an old woman was foraging the very same clearing, she saw the baby pop out of the tree. Cautiously, she approached the baby, it looked normal.
She picked it up and looked into his bright green eyes. He seemed like a normal baby. The old woman decided to take the risk and take the baby back to her village.
Much like many other gods, Utsuku grew up fast, after only 7 days he looked like a 7-year-old boy. The village had no idea what was wrong with him, they thought he might've been cursed, or maybe even a spirit.
The village people got even more concerned when he started talking to plants as they were people, he would sit in flower beds for hours, seemingly talking to himself, he said the flowers made good conversation, but everyone just thought he was lonely because no one wanted to be his friend.
Eventually, after 3 weeks of Utsuku being around, he finally became an adult and grew to his full power.
The villagers were shocked, this whole time they were talking to a god.
The villagers begged him to stay, but he refused, he wanted to explore the forests and talk to all the plants, so he melted in the forest, and the villagers never saw him again.
It was years until Utsuku was recognized as a god, not because the other gods hated him or anything, he was just so secluded in the forests of Borohiem that no one could find him, but eventually, a couple of gods ran into him, and they got him to ascend to the heavens to meet the rest of his family.
soon after, people started worshipping him.
Utsuku has tons of symbols, really anything plant-related, but his most common one is a symbol of the tree he was born from.
Utsuku's ideals if you wish to follow him are:
-treat all plants and wildlife with respect
-try to see the beauty in everything, even in what disgusts you.
pretty easy to follow, however, if you'd like to get power from him there is a third thing you must do, you have to survive and live in the woods, by yourself, until Utsuku thinks you're ready, no one is exactly sure what determines someone as "ready", all we know is that the times vary a lot, some people get powers in a week, others get it in a few years. You would think the shorter you last in the woods the more impressive, but monks of Utsuku see those who have to last longer as more impressive because some of their best stay in the forest for over a year. It's believed the longer you spend by yourself in the woods the more you become connected with Utsuku, so those who stay longer are naturally more in tune with their powers
Utsuku and Leabrunn have a bit of a rocky relationship, Utsuku despised Leabrunn when he was a kid, because he was constantly causing forest fires, Leabrunn didn't like Utsuku because he gave him consequences for his actions, but now as an adult, Leabrunn has nothing against Utsuku, but Utsuku holds a grudge with this kind of stuff, he takes the indiscriminate harming of plants very seriously.
