Bandanna and Flag, "Wounded man's hand"

Write about a clothing item worn by an organization with bad reputation. What's its purpose and what does it represent?
The main flag and symbol for The crew of Pain's Pride, this nasty bandanna and flag has a black background, a white crippled hand with a sharp thorn going through it, and blood dripping onto the bottom into a large pool. This sight scares most soon to be targets away, and considering the crew's reputation, most are keenly aware of it's presence, fore ignorance is an unkind mistress on Boscage 4.
