The Grand Council
The Grand Council serves as the official government of the city of Brackenport and the surrounding territory under Brackenport's control.
Basic Composition
The Grand Council is a senatorial body comprised of 20 members and one selected representative called the First Chair. The members of the council are democratically elected in a ranked-choice election every 5 years. The Council then elects one person from Brackenport (who is not a Council member) to serve as the First Chair.Voting Rights
Any person in Brackenport may vote in the election as long as they have at least one full year of residency in the city or own residential property in the city.Members and Roles
Most council members act as one of the paired leaders of the seven major departments responsible for the operation of Brakenport. Each of these departments has an Administrator and a Secretary, who act in tandem to oversee their department. The six junior members of the council serve at large to work with the seven on larger projects or to handle all other matters as needed.First Chair of the Council
