History of Braka

With the Humans flourishing and getting their ships back in order they pushed into the seas south of where they first hit land. They hit a small continent that was already occupied by a bird-like race. Isolated and happy to remain so this new race kept to themselves and had no interest in joining the current political and economic relations of the rest of Braka.

With magic now prevalent and many gaining the ability to use it the Dwarves started to use it to their advantage. Making wondrous advancements in forging techniques.   However, as progress pushed forward the divide between the old ways and the new reached its peak. The rest of Braka unaware of the bloodshed taking place under the mountain was surprised when a fleet of ships was spotted making sail for the south.

While primitive the first guns from Usnor hit the northern markets. Few in number and highly regulated these devices caused a lot of rumors to spread on how the war was run between the two Dwarf cultures.   Many of these guns proved fatal to their owners as their operation was complex and the tampering with them often lead to execution or accidental death.

With airships becoming very popular to those who can afford it the ability to plan trips, send back information on new discoveries, and help navigate airways became very important.   Usnor responded by making the magical technique of making sending stones available. These small stones allowed quick transmission of messages even among the nonmagical possible.

With the sell of magical guns slowing and the Uprising in the North just getting underway Usnor release the first nonmagical gun to Braka.   Still of complex design, they were still hard to use but were more easily duplicated. While tampering and reproduction was still illegal the forging of guns became more available.   If not for the timing of the release many suspect that humans would have almost been completely wiped out.

Usnor again looked to change the world of Braka. The release of the blueprints for a black powdered engine was first met with great enthusiasm. However, within a few years, the engine quickly dropped out of interest before being implemented in any nation due to the cost of black powder to operate it and the amount of track that would need to be laid to make it useful outside of normal mining operations.

Humans and the larger species of the north seemed to be getting along but the peace was never full. To avoid further conflict and make space for those in other cultures that wanted to break free from cultural norms a joint venture to create a new nation flourished.   While the idea did well over Braka as a whole the nation of Ospary opposed the motion as the new settlement and nation was to be started on the remaining land to their east.   With negotiations taking some time the pact was eventually passed with approval from Ospary.
