Feast of the Three
History
Syp's Bread represents the last meal that Syp ate, and Syp's Fasting represents the struggle of wills that Syp faced as he placed the Lid upon the Urn. Candyoni's Broth represents the last meal that Candyoni ate, and Candyoni's Fasting represents his own struggles against Arcen as he closed the Urn further. Zweiss's Decision represents the reflection of Zweiss as he decided what to do next, and the Triumphant Return represents his return to the Three Peoples and their celebration hearing that Arcen was contained.
Execution
Syp's Bread
In honor of Syp sharing his rations with Candyoni and Zweiss before going before the Urn to meet his end, karse bread is served with heated water from the first through the fourth hour of Faie.
Syp's Fasting
In honor of Syp's struggle against Arcen, from the fifth hour of Faie through the twenty-fourth hour of Comzhie, eating and drinking are forbidden, except for a pod of water every fourth hour— therefore, the next drink is allowed during the eighth hour of Faie.
Candyoni's Broth
In honor of Candyoni sharing his rations with Zweiss before taking his turn at pushing the Lid against Arcen's will, warm selrik broth is served alone from the first hour through the third hour of Adie.
Candyoni's Fasting
In honor of Candyoni's fight against Arcen to push the Lid further over the mouth of the Urn, from the fourth hour of Adie through the twenty fourth hour of Potzhie, eating and drinking are forbidden, except for a pod of water every third hour— therefore, the next drink is allowed during the sixth hour of Adie.
Zweiss's Decision
In honor of Zweiss's contemplation of the deaths of his friends and his pained decision to return home, complete silence is observed during the first hour of Aie, during which participants must be awake and should reflect upon the past cycle.
Triumphant Return or Zweiss's Meat
In honor of the Covering of the Urn and Zweiss's return to the Three Peoples, many events occur from the second hour through the twenty fourth hour of Aie.
Breaking of the Fast
A light meal is set out on a common table during the second hour of Aie. There are no individual dishes for this meal; everyone must eat while standing or sitting at the common table, and— if chairs are used— the number of chairs around the table must be in multiples of three. Everyone takes turns eating through the fourth hour of Aie. The meal— or a replacement snack— is left available until the serving of Zweiss's Meat, and is occasionally refreshed throughout the day.Parade of the Three
A parade honoring the Three— and implicating honors to each of the Three Peoples— is held; the extent of this goes from three people dressed and acting as the Three to large floats built and decorated in a style such that they embody the ideals of each of the Three.Remembrance of the Fallen
The tale of the War of Three Cycles is told as the Light nears the horizon. After the telling, societies may complete their customary rites that honor the dead.Zweiss's Meat
At the twelfth hour of Aie, a meat and sauce dish reminiscent of the rations that Zweiss carried to the heart is served, with each individual having their own plate and spot to eat. After the first serving of meat, karse bread and selrick broth are added to the meal, and cultural foods may also be added over the course of the next few hours.Final Celebrations
Once all have ate their fill, local customary celebrations begin, whether that be dancing and singing, or reading and reflection, or tests of strength and courage. The only rule for these is that all must be welcome to participate; this means that outsiders cannot be barred, there can be no charge for entry, and age must not be of issue in order to at least try to participate. These celebrations may last through the twenty fourth hour of Aie, but individual houses may retire early by extinguishing all lights within their home.Components and tools
