Castle Venerisa
"Gryan pulled black, marbled stone from the earth and carved it into a castle for Venri; it was rather blocky in shape, but it was seamless. Within the castle was a simple shrine to both me and Dyris, each lit with Godsflame. In the heart of the castle was a large ruby, shaped roughly like a tear-drop."
Purpose / Function
This is the center of government in the small 'kingdom' of Venerisa. It houses the lord of the land, Veneri, and his close court. It's also the location of two holy shrines, dedicated to Mynoris and Dyris.
Architecture
This castle was built by the hand of the god Gryan. It was crafted from a single, large piece of black marble that was drawn from the depths of the earth. Thus it is seamless and very sturdy. However, Gryan was not a god of Beauty or Industry, so the building is more functional than aesthetic, earning it a colloquial name of The Brick. Amenities such as fire-places and carving in the columns had to be added afterwards by mortal craftsmen. Most notable is the giant ruby that sits in the heart of the castle, and is shaped like a giant tear-drop.
History
Shortly after the death of Ellra and the Council of the Gods determining her fate, this castle was built by Gryan at the request of his grandson Venri. Venri wished to have a territory of his own, since all the other children of the Netheri had a piece of the world for their descendants. Since then it has been the seat of Government for the tiny kingdom of Venerisa, home to wandering spirits and Veneeri alike.
