Elder Artificer
A once revered Grandmaster artificer from Dunsterpor moved to the area of his upbringing to help bring prosperity to his hometown about a decade ago. At first, he made many improvements to the town and surrounding area. His great inventions helped streamline and automate the farmlands, and he often built small trinkets for the children and townspeople to ease their life and bring them joy.
He became more and more isolated, until the once beloved artificer stopped visiting the town. His dwelling, on a hill not far into the forest, was once beautifully cleared and maintained by his automated grounds keeping machines. There were elaborate sculpted hedges, mazes, water features, and the home was a modest stone mansion, with an extensive section for his workshop. Now, this dwelling was overrun, and beasts in the forest made it hard for anyone to get close to check in on him.
Without his presence, the town and farms slowly dilapidated, and the townsfolk left were in peril. Recently, the townsfolk noticed monsters in the forest, not just the animals but also demonic possessed beasts. They also hear loud noises in the forest, the sounds of trees being felled and loud ear-piercing screeches. Fearing that the forest is growing more dangerous, and without the aid of their artificer, the townsfolk put up a bulletin in the surrounding towns asking for an adventurer to clear the forest of the new threat, and find the artificer and bring him to safety.
