The Tolvira House of Inquisition

Ask not if you want us, ask if you need us.

"Do the Outriders threaten business? A fair enough question, but before I answer; Allow me to ask my own. Would you use a toy hammer to fix the holes in the greatest home ever built? No? Then perhaps we can stop talking about that underfunded token gesture and start doing business."

All men have problems. A simple truth of life is that no matter one's status or accomplishments, the mind cannot help but find the flaws in an otherwise perfect picture. Yet this is a trait not only found in men but in the constructs they form. Towns, cities, companies, guilds, nations. It is when these problems grow to great to bear that the stability of these entities becomes threatened. Thus in times where a problem too complex or controversial arises, outside assistance is often the only place left to turn.

The Tolvira House of Inquisition lives by a simple motto. A job worth paying for is a job worth doing. Whether that job is Horror extermination, protection of valuable items, or launching a discrete investigation and elimination. Officially they refute any terms such as mercenaries or bounty hunters, referring to their operatives as handymen. Men with an eclectic diversity of talents, of which violence is merely one skill of many. While one could see the distinction as ultimately meaningless, the former tends to leave a sour taste in one's mouth. Yet the semantics of their choice definition means very little to those who find themselves facing the business end of their blade.

While initially forming in Attenveil in the 81st year, this group has since proliferated throughout the rest of the nation. Most major cities and capitals have at least one House of Inquisition with the size of said House dependent on how frequently their services are employed. Occasionally a group may be spotted handling a problem within the Outer Provinces, yet this is always at the discretion of a noble family or a large company with a vested interest in the resolution of the issue. While few groups would outright deny work based on the client's class, the simple truth of the matter is that for the quality of work The House of Inquisition provides: if you have to ask, you don't have enough.
