Slow Drug
Slow drug is commonly used by doctors in hospitals to induce a coma like state in patients. This slows the physical functions of the being so that natural or assisted healing can occur. It allows other drugs to work without interference from physical or psychological reactions and for physical changes to occur like regrowth, grafts, amputations, and augmentations much more quickly than when the patient is in their natural state. It can also be used to allow a wounded patient to reach proper medical care.
There are side effects to using slow drug. One is that one continues to age physically, but there are absolutely no memories from the time while using the drug. For relatively short terms (days or weeks) this is usually not an issue. But when the drug is used over longer periods, the recipients have exhibited mental confusion and complete breakdown in extreme cases. This has been noticed when users have generally been under the effects of Slow drug for more than 6 months, either at one time or over multiple uses. This has been noticed in military uses as the drug is commonly used for extreme wounds that need to be treated at top rate medical facilities that aren't available when the injury is incurred.
The different between slow drug and a medical bay is that other than administering the drug and placing the body in a safe place to avoid further injury, there's no other care needed. Users do not need any nourishment or relief and all bodily functions are essentially turned off except those necessary to maintain oxygen levels in the blood, i.e. breathing, heart pumping, etc.
The underworld has begun using slow drug as a torture device. One can be administered the drug and then be told that more or less time has transpired. This can cause great confusion and anxiety that can be used to the torturer's advantage.
Slow drug is rare, but like everything else, when the price is met, it can be found.
