Common Etiquette rules

When greeting a friend, etiquette dictates that each person spread their arms wide and palms open towards each other before clasping hands with the other person, arms still wide. It is to show no hostility or threat to one another.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

It is customary to anoint newborn babies with oil from the blood pine tree, though if none is available then any tree oil will do.

Coming of Age Rites

A sign of adulthood and maturation to the Sciddish peoples is when an adolescent presents his parents or instructors with proof of what they have learned. Something they crafted themselves, caught themselves, hunted themselves, etc. The only requirement is that it be related to the work they have been training to do. For quick learners this might be encouraged at a young age, for some it doesn't happen till they are almost into their second decade, and others still have yet to find that which fills them with inspiration.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Burying the dead is common to the Sciddish, who have great barrows to hold their deceased.

Common Taboos

Refusing help when offered is considered a personal insult to Sciddish peoples, who often have to rely on each other to get through tough winters or low yield harvest seasons.

Common Myths and Legends

Sciddish Humans love to tell tales, Ausdremwuld & Zindraaldein, the Lady of Loch Gallanach, and many more.
