The Beginning of Legends: Session 1
The group of adventurers, each responding to a posting from Professor Thorn who was an eccentric man renowned in his field of study, arrived at the Grapeshot Inn in Wildbriar. Professor Thorn had an unconventional proposition for these individuals; he sought their expertise and bravery to embark on a perilous journey deep into the ancient jungle of Grilselbane. This untamed wilderness is home to not only many hostile Orc tribes but also harbors long-forgotten magical artifacts and a slew of other enigmatic dangers.
The meeting with Professor Thorn took place at the quaint Grapeshot Inn nestled within the charming town of Wildbriar. Here, amidst cozy surroundings, the adventurers were introduced to the peculiar Professor Thorn.
After their meeting, the adventurers were invited to Professor Thorn's abode. Within the confines of his home, he generously provided them with a cart and essential equipment necessary for their upcoming expedition. Grislebane was not a destination to be taken lightly.
The group wisely decided to stock up on supplies, with each adventurer pursuing their interests. Xanthine, finding a lovely dwarven woman who was happy and willing, had a memorable encounter. Meanwhile, Pip carefully procured a valuable collection of potions, a crucial resource for their impending journey. Lastly, Henry, the ever-loyal companion, upheld his reputation as the dependable member of the team by making sure they had the "actual" required supplies for their travels.
As the group finally embarked on their treacherous journey into Griselbane, they traveled into the jungle and were almost immediately met with a sudden and vicious ambush by Orcs along the way. With valor and determination, they now stand triumphant over the vanquished foes, ready to continue their adventure through the perilous depths of the jungle.
The Spectre: Session 2
As the group of intrepid adventurers journeyed closer to the heart of Grislebane, the dense canopy of the ancient forest loomed ominously above them. After traveling a considerable distance, they decided to make camp at the forest's edge, taking refuge beneath the towering trees. As the night settled in and the others drifted into slumber, Saphira remained vigilant, her curiosity piqued.
Guided by the feline prowess of Luna's mighty cat Teekle, Saphira ventured cautiously deeper into the forest's shadows. There, amid the ethereal glow of moonlight, she stumbled upon a spectral being, its form hauntingly translucent. The spirit did not motion to harm her and simply stared at her from a distance.
With the first light of dawn, the rest of the group awoke, and Saphira led them to the mysterious specter. This ghostly figure, filled with a sense of longing and a disjointed memory, shared a cryptic tale. It spoke of confusion and lack of purpose, and trouble for his restless soul. The adventurers moved to assist him in regaining his memory. He spoke of the ruins beneath their fight with memory, but not understanding. As if something was missing.
The group ventured deeper into the ancient ruins that the ghost had been trapped within for untold years. The ruins, shrouded in mystery, seemed to hold secrets dating back to a forgotten era. As they explored further, they stumbled upon an enigmatic chamber, located within, they found an impassable wall and an ancient orb. The orb, once activated, silenced their voices in different ways, forcing them to rely on their wits and nonverbal communication to solve the puzzle. Their success paved the way for the group to delve even deeper into the dungeon's mysterious depths.
Inside, they encountered more than just puzzles; ancient coffins concealed long-deceased skeletons that had been awakened to defend their final resting place. In a harrowing battle, the adventurers fought valiantly to protect themselves and maintain their progress deeper into the dungeon, the mysteries of Grislebane slowly unraveling before their eyes.
The Celestial Forge: Session 3
After bidding farewell to their spectral companion, the party ventured deeper into the ruins. Their journey led them to a set of roughly hewn stairs, their ascent guided by the eerie, solitary glow of a sapphire torch. As they descended, a creeping sensation of being pursued began to haunt their steps.
Xanthine, always alert, caught a glimpse of a wraith lurking in the periphery of his vision. With quick reflexes, he unleashed a volley of arrows, instigating a sudden skirmish on the narrow stairs. The battle was brief, as the spirit fled further down the staircase.
Undeterred, they continued their descent, venturing almost 2,000 feet into the heart of the ancient ruins. What awaited them was a breathtaking discovery—a magnificent smithing area, a creation seemingly crafted for and by the divine entities of old. The chamber boasted Astral forges, celestial musical resonators, aegis shields, and a luminous codex. It was a place where gods might have once forged celestial wonders.
Inspired by the celestial atmosphere, Henry and Pip couldn't resist the allure of the celestial musical resonators. Their melodies filled the chamber, resonating with ancient power. Meanwhile, Xanthine, feeling the need for more light and armed with determination, reignited the torch he carried. In that luminous glow, everyone next to him was forced to confront the wraith once more, engaging it in a final, decisive battle. The party, struggling but united, ultimately overcame the wraith's malevolent presence before it could inflict significant harm.
As the echoes of battle faded away, the group took a moment to collect their thoughts, surrounded by the divine craftsmanship of the chamber. However, amidst the calm, Luna was too far away to be pulled into the spirit realm, and she began to work on some items of her accord.
The Savior Spirit and the Murder God: Session 4
Amidst the intense battle against the wraith on the astral plane, Luna's roguish instincts got the better of her. While her companions were locked in combat, she quietly began to pilfer whatever treasures weren't securely anchored. Her nimble fingers unearthed an assortment of trinkets and hidden gems, each promising a hint of wonder and mystery.
However, the true highlight of her escapade came when she stumbled upon an extraordinary find—an otherworldly room suspended amidst the void of the astral plane. Stars glittered like distant galaxies, their light bathing Luna in an ethereal radiance. It felt as though she had transcended the boundaries of her own world and ventured into the cosmos itself.
In this surreal astral space, a cloaked figure descended gracefully from the heavens, its presence both enigmatic and compelling. Luna heard the figure's voice in her mind, beseeching her aid in recovering a coveted orb of immense power, an artifact that seemed to be the very source of the astral plane's radiant allure.
Meanwhile, when the party returned from the astral plane and entered this starry abyss, they found themselves in the presence of a celestial being named Pickles, the spirit from earlier outside the ruins, who revealed himself to be chosen of Pelor. Pickles expressed his profound gratitude to the adventurers for restoring his lost memories, sparking a lengthy conversation about their mission and the quest to retrieve the coveted orb from the temple at the heart of Grislebane.
Despite the unusual name, Pickles never corrected the party as he had come to appreciate the endearing nickname. He successfully persuaded the group to consider a drastic course of action—burning the ruins to the ground, marking their victory over the darkness that had haunted Grislebane. In gratitude for their efforts, Pickles bestowed upon each member a divine weapon or tool, but he also offered a word of caution to Zendra, acknowledging her formidable powers.
The adventurers, weary from their encounters, chose to rest outside the temple, believing they were safe. Yet, the night held an ominous surprise for them. As the party slept, Luna and Henry awoke to the chilling sensation of cold steel pressing against their throats. The realization dawned upon them that they were surrounded by unknown assailants, their friends still slumbering blissfully unaware of the peril that now loomed overhead.
The Ambush, The Stalker, and the Lightning Strike: Session 5
While the members of the Ardent Dawn slept, their peaceful rest was abruptly shattered by the encroachment of foul Orcs, who sought to capture and subdue them. The party awoke to the dire situation at hand. They had been ambushed in their sleep and awoke to knives at their throats.
With courage in their hearts and weapons in hand, a fierce battle ensued, with each member of the party displaying valor in the face of adversity. It was clear that the Orcs had met their match; they were here to slay, not to be taken prisoner.
As they attempted to glean information from one of the subdued Orcs, the creature spat defiantly in their faces. In response, Xanthine issued a challenge—a trial by combat, pitting his strength and skill against the Orc's ferocity. The battle was hard-fought, but the determined dwarf emerged victorious, earning a measure of respect from the defeated foe.
From the defeated Orc, the Ardent Dawn learned a crucial piece of information—the name of the leader of the Krikntril Orcs, a figure known as Lester.
The Orcs carried with them some cryptic notes that hinted at ominous events. These notes warned of the impending "dark eclipse," a day when the boundaries between realms would be at their thinnest. It was revealed that Lester sought the key to the temple situated at the heart of Grislebane.
Studying their map, the party plotted their next course of action and decided to mount an assault on the northern gates of the Krikntril camp. It was a strategic choice that they hoped would bring them closer to their goal.
As they embarked on their journey, they noticed that time itself began to behave strangely, as if it had lost its grip on reality. It was a disconcerting sensation that left them with an unsettling feeling.
The oddities continued as they traveled, and a pair of ominous, glowing eyes began to stalk them. Luna and Zendra, vigilant and unyielding, resisted the urge to succumb to sleep. Instead, they experienced dreams of great importance, while Henry, during his watch, caught sight of the eyes that had been shadowing them—a jet-black dragon with sinister, bat-like features.
At the end of their rest, as the rain poured down heavily, an unexpected calamity struck Pip—a lightning bolt, a shocking twist of fate that left the party to contemplate the unpredictable and treacherous nature of their journey.
The Owl's Lament: Session 6
Amidst the turmoil of a sudden lightning strike that struck Pip, his pained cry echoed through the air. He hastily covered his eyes with a piece of fabric, revealing a startling revelation. Pip disclosed that his magical abilities had been concealed by a curse, possibly inflicted upon him by his teacher, a revelation even he had forgotten until this moment.
The party, empathetic and supportive, gathered around Pip, offering words of comfort and reassurance. They understood the weight of such a revelation, and with unity, they decided to continue their journey. Their destination was the temple nestled in the heart of Grislebane, and to expedite their journey, they opted for the shortcut through a cave.
As they made their way towards the forest, an unusual sound caught their attention – distant hooting echoing through the air. Their curiosity piqued, they ventured towards the source and stumbled upon a peculiar encounter. Two owls, both bearing the name Jeremiah, were engaged in a heated argument.
Curious and persistent, the party attempted to mediate the owl dispute, leading to a lengthy exchange. It was during this conversation that the owls revealed a disturbing truth - lapses in their memory and periods of lost time. The owls claimed that these lapses were caused by a recurring problem, the incoming Dark Eclipse. They were also being subjected to relentless raids from the Krikntrall Orc camp.
Determined to help their newfound feathered friends, the party, now calling themselves the Ardent Dawn, devised a plan to ambush the marauding Orcs. The owls informed them that a fellow named Lester would be assisting in the ambush. With meticulous preparation, the party set traps, concealed themselves, and waited in anticipation.
As the Orcs unknowingly approached the trap-laden area, the party triggered their well-laid plans, engaging in a dramatic ambush, intent on defending the owls and ending the threat from the Krikntrall Orc camp once and for all.
Saphira's Gambit: Session 7
The battle raged on as the party executed their daring plan, sending Lester plummeting into a deep pit. For a moment, it seemed like victory was within their grasp as they skillfully dispatched several of Lester's loyal Orcs. Their confidence swelled, but their triumph was short-lived.
Lester, displaying an unexpected resilience, managed to fly out out the pit in a massey ball of rapidly spinning flesh. With a cunning twist, he released his pocketed pets, unleashing a chaotic frenzy upon the battlefield. It was a dire turn of events, and the tide of battle shifted drastically.
Henry, unwavering in his resolve, fought with unyielding vigor but was eventually overwhelmed, falling to the ground under the relentless onslaught. Biceps, known for his incredible strength, too, met the same fate. Saphirra nearly did as well as she teetered on the brink of defeat.
However, just when it seemed that all hope was lost, Saphirra, driven by a desperate determination, reached for her deck of cards and drew six. Drawing upon the mysterious powers of the cards, she summoned several radiant diamonds that shimmered brilliantly. A spectral demon emerged from the depths of her deck, lending its eerie presence to the fray.
With the cards in her hand, Saphirra unleashed her newfound power. A wave of supernatural energy surged forth, obliterating their enemies in a blinding flash of light. Lester and his pets vanished, leaving the battlefield eerily quiet.
Saphirra, having expended her temporary power, wasted no time in tending to her fallen comrades. With a gentle touch and a healing touch, she mended their wounds and revitalized her allies. The party, battered but victorious, took a moment to catch their breath and consider the implications of the extraordinary abilities they had witnessed in their companion, Saphirra.
It seemed as if Luna had lost something, but they were not sure what.
Luna's Soul: Session 8
The Owl-Kind and the Ardent dawn were victorious, sort of. All the dangerous people had been banished from this realm or at least banished to somewhere far away, they think. They talked amongst themselves and they think that Luna's soul had been ripped from her body, because she had a man tied to the gem in her forehead. It turned out that the man who had been so hellbent on ruining Luna's life had also been the man who had taken Zendra's arms and nearly burned her to death, causing her to take on her current life. The group theorized that Luna's soul had been torn from her body and was currently with Lorcan.
Pickles agreed to search for them in the Astral Realm, and said his temporary goodbyes to Zendra and the rest of the Ardent Dawn, and the owls provided the group with supplies. The explained the dark eclipse, and how this was a sign that the walls between the realms was thin. If Nerull had her way, the entire world would suffer.
The group began journeying into the secret tunnels beneath the owl folk's hideout, and were being watched. The walked around a corner and came face to face with a large group of humanoid mushrooms.
Mycellius, God of Spores: Session 9
The party came face to face with a mushroom person, deep in the underground tunnels at their way to the temple they were seeking. The mushroom was not aggressive, and seemed as if he wanted to help the party. He explained that he could help them get out of this cavern, and show them an even quicker way if they helped him. He explained that he was a member of the Sporeborn Collective. This faction believes in unity and cooperation among all mushroomkind, advocating for peaceful coexistence with other races and creatures in the underground realm. They are skilled in the arts of diplomacy and mediation, seeking to establish alliances and mutual understanding with neighboring factions. They were currently being attacked by the Myconid Sovereignty. The Myconid Sovereignty is a more militant faction, believing in the superiority of mushroomkind and seeking to assert their dominance over other races in the underground realm. They view themselves as the rightful rulers of the tunnels and employ aggressive tactics to expand their territory and influence.
The Mushroom Persen explained the one Shroom, which was a connection to their god and the most powerful ancient mushroom, located at the center of the cavern they were in, and asked the party to help push back the Myconid Sovereignty. The party spoke with the leader of the Myconid Sovereignty and they explained they were after the same thing, also asking them to side with them because the Collective was a bunch of fools.
The party decided to investigate the one shroom. They came across a battle that was ongoing from the two factions. Xanthine and Luna successfully snuck past the battle and touched the One Shroom, and they were immediately transferred to another realm. They flew faster than they could comprehend at an island in the blackness, covered in Mushrooms. Once they landed, they were greeted by a stag sporting mushrooms instead of horns. This stag spoke to them telpatically and explained that he was Mycellius, god of mushrooms. He asked them to resolve his warring factions SOMEHOW and he would tell the party where the orb they were seeking was located. They agreed and were transported out of the mushroom.
They went back to the Sporeborn Collective and planned to try and talk the Myconid Sovereignty into a truce, but awoke to a knife around their friends neck.
