Notable Events

The Sundering of the Celestial Spire

In ancient times, there existed a colossal structure known as the Celestial Spire. This immense tower, said to pierce the heavens themselves, served as a conduit of power that connected the material plane with the realms of gods, celestials, and other divine beings. It was a place of balance, where the energies of the cosmos flowed harmoniously, sustaining the world and ensuring the stability of the planes.   The event that triggered the great calamity was the shattering of the Celestial Spire. A conflict among the gods erupted over the control and influence of the Celestial Spire. Different factions of deities vied for dominance, each seeking to harness its power for their own purposes.   Mortal beings, manipulated or deceived by these warring deities, played a crucial role in the destruction of the spire. Mortal champions, chosen by their respective gods, were sent to sabotage the spire's foundations and weaken its structure. In a desperate bid to gain the upper hand, one of the godly factions initiated a powerful ritual within the Celestial Spire. This ritual was intended to divert the spire's energy for their benefit, but it went horribly awry, causing an explosive release of celestial and divine energy.   The immense surge of energy resulted in a rift that tore through the heavens and the planes, separating them into distinct dimensions. This rift gave birth to the Shadow Realm, an eerie and chaotic dimension filled with the remnants of divine and celestial power. The material plane was left scarred and transformed. Magic became unpredictable, with wild surges and unpredictable effects. Celestials and extraplanar beings were cast into the newly formed dimensions, and the balance between good and evil, light and darkness, was disrupted.   The shattering of the Celestial Spire marked the beginning of the great calamity, as the world was thrown into chaos and upheaval. The separation of the planes and the creation of the Shadow Realm left a lasting impact on Ezala, especially the jungles of Grislebane where it took place.

The Duel at the Celestial Spire

As Nerull began his ritual to take the power of the spire for himself, there stood one God in his way. Pelor would not allow this corruption to continue.   As twilight cast its gentle embrace upon the Celestial Spire, a profound tension filled the heavens. The celestial tower, an awe-inspiring monument that connected the material plane with the divine realms, stood as a testament to the order and balance of the cosmos. Its alabaster spires reached toward the infinite sky, basking in the radiant light of Pelor's sun.   Nerull, shrouded in the blackest of shadows, descended from the inky abyss of the celestial plane, his presence a looming darkness against the brilliance of the celestial tower. His ebony cloak seemed to drink in the very light, leaving nothing but void in his wake.   Pelor, a radiant figure of divine luminance, stood resolute atop the Celestial Spire, his golden armor shimmering with the brilliance of a thousand suns. His blazing eyes, reflecting the intensity of his radiant realm, gazed upon Nerull with a mixture of sorrow and determination.   The duel began with a thunderous clash of divine power. Nerull summoned forth a swirling tempest of shadowy darkness, unleashing torrents of necrotic energy that sought to consume all in its path. Pelor countered with a radiant shield of pure light, forming a barrier that pushed back against the encroaching darkness.   Their battle raged across the heavens, as radiant beams clashed with shadowy tendrils. Pelor's divine fury manifested in searing waves of light that scorched the very heavens, while Nerull's mastery over death and decay unleashed spectral minions to assail his foe.   The Celestial Spire itself quaked as the two godly titans clashed. Its foundations groaned under the strain of the cosmic conflict, and the heavens wept tears of celestial fire and shadowy void. The very air was charged with the dichotomy of their powers.   In the climax of their battle, as Pelor and Nerull stood locked in a contest of wills, a surge of divine and necrotic energy erupted from their collision. The Celestial Spire trembled, and with a deafening roar, it shattered into a thousand shards of radiant light and shadowy darkness.   The celestial fragments were cast across the material plane and the newly formed Shadow Realm, creating rifts between dimensions that altered the very fabric of reality. As the dust settled, the celestial tower was no more, and the world below was left forever scarred by the cataclysmic event.
