Dwarvish

"The song of mountains: delicate wisps of clouds, the trickle of spring water, the crack of rock tumbling, down to the deepest crystal forming. Of all the crafts thought up by dwarven hearts and put into the world by dwarven hands, their language is perhaps their greatest creation."

On the surface, the language of the Dwarves is practical and about as rhythmic as a stone and many non-dwarves don't pay much heed to it unless they are engineers or masons. However, and this is understandable, most folk fail to catch on to the kennings used by the dwarves, even in everyday speech. As these are highly contextual, idiomatic pieces of the language, it can be difficult to translate meaning smoothly into other tongues, and as dwarves are a pragmatic folk, they typically shrug it off and simplify the translations into their most kid-friendly form when communicating in Common (such as when giving their surnames.)

The language is written in a very straightforward, runic script that is shared with giantfolk and has been inherited by other languages such as Gnomish and Goblin.
