Gnomish families in Cael are community-based, but semi-transient. Children are raised by the community as a whole, and often don't even reside directly with their own parents. Adults move between various communities (gnome or otherwise) throguhout their lifetimes. They do, however, highly value these places and those with whom they've chosen to live around, and do their best to contribute to the community. The loss of any part of a gnome's chosen community is devastating to their spirit.
