Tiefling

It isn't clear how tiefling bloodlines come to be, but they are quite rare and inevitably viewed with suspicion by most peoples. The lines that aren't hidden from society completely are watched closely by the cults and governments of the world. Some of the harshly regimented communities and nations will go so far as to force registration of tieflings, controlling where and how they can work and who they interact with. Others reject them from their borders entirely. In more liberal societies, they may become accepted but it is still more often than not the case that they find themselves proving their trustworthiness time and time again.

Playable Race Notes

Ability Scores: Choose one of: (a) +2 in any; +1 in any other (b) +1 to three different abilities

Size: Small or Medium. You choose the size when you select this race.

Speed: 30 ft.

Lifespan. 80-120 years.

Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Infernal Resistance. You have resistance to fire damage and cold damage.

Infernal Legacy. You know the thaumaturgy cantrip. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the hellish rebuke spell as a 2nd-level spell with this trait; you regain the ability to cast it when you finish a long rest. Once you reach 5th level, you can also cast the darkness spell once per day with this trait; you regain the ability to cast it when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Infernal.

Object of Mistrust. If you are known to be Tiefling in areas controlled by The Creed of Elihin or The Doctrine of the Four Moons, your movements will be highly restricted and leaders will be hesitant to involve you in their operations. Some people may be overtly hostile towards you, and in some regions may attempt to apprehend you on sight. If your lineage has been hidden and is discovered, this attitude towards you is compounded with greater suspicion. Trust is slow to build for tieflings in most places.
