Originally this was a genetic modification done to one human by Razul. Through this one human, it is airborne and bloodborne. It is passed down through bloodlines, as well as blood contact. Usually they have come in contact with infected blood, they have already breathed it in.
It is infectious from the beginning.

Causes

This is the bubonic plague from Earth. Razul adapted it.

Symptoms

• Fever
• Headache
• Chills
• Weakness
• Swollen and painful lymph nodes

Treatment

There is no treatment or cure for the disease

Prognosis

It is always deadly. Once one has been infected, one will become one of the Eaters, usually after death.

Humans are the only carriers.

Prevention

It is possible to prevent airborne spread with masks. If one can avoid coming into contact with infected blood, this is another way. But sometimes it's hard to tell who has it and who doesn't. And since it's a genetic condition as well, sometimes it is unavoidable.

History

First case in 1000 Ancient Era (roughly). Razul took the bubonic plague from Earth and altered it so that infected humans turned into Eaters. Usually the full transformation takes place after death.

Cultural Reception

Feared at first. Through history this fear has remained but starting in the Industrial Era it was looked on as an inconvience and ways of preventing it were looked into. Eventually, it became accepted as part of society.
