Personal history

She was born to a low middle class family and wanted more out of life then following in her mother's footsteps as a steamstress. She was willing to trade her body for wealth and at 16 become a mistress to a noble in Beteny. She got the life she wanted. For three years she was happy, but then she got pregnant.   While this wasn't a part of her plans, she was happy (eventually) about having a child. When she told the man, he wasn't happy. He accused her of not being faithful to him, that the baby wasn't his. He said that even if it was his, he wouldn't support a bastard, and told her to get rid of it. When she refused, he beat her nearly to death, causing her to miscarry.   When she had recovered, she used what money she had left to move to Killystrand, where she got a job at The Wild Duck Tavern and Inn. While many men wanted to bed her, she refused to go that route again.   Clara found that after her near death experience she has a sixth sense about men. She is now sensitive to the way men smell, and thier smell tells her about them, such as single or married and whether or not they are faithful to their wives. If she touches the guy in question, she sees their life flash in her head. While she's unsure where the music and the words came from, when she sings May's Embrace, unfaithful married men commit suicide. She makes sure that every muscian who plays at The Wild Duck Tavern and Inn knows the tune.
