Qualifications

Must be a son/daughter of the current Sultan/Sultana.

Appointment

Upon the death or the removal of the Sultan/Sultana, the heir steps up.
A week after the funeral, the heir is formally invested with power.

Duties

Uphold the Law: Ensure justice and order throughout the Sultanate.
Lead the Military: Command the armed forces in times of war.
Foreign Policy: Negotiate treaties and alliances with other nations.
Religious Authority: Depending on your world, the Sultan/Sultana might hold some religious authority.
Economic Prosperity: Oversee trade and ensure the well-being of the people.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Abdication due to illness or old age.
Can be removed due to Council Judgement. This is only in extreme cases and the Sultan/Sultana must be unfit. A majority vote is required.
