Session 161: Revenants & Rest
“You’ve studied the blade, but have you listened to it?”
General Summary
It was time to take a breather. With all that had transpired, the Dragon Punchers did not feel confident pressing forward until they'd had some time to recuperate and mend their wounds. They set up a watch and spent the evening trying to get as much rest as would allow in their current environment.
In the morning the group retraced their steps and made their way, once again, towards the center of the barrow. It was here that they found a large iron pillar inscribed with runes. This was the source of the rotations that had been continuously occurring since they had entered. Soren Chaleb's tomb also held an ominous warning: "Those that thoughtlessly cast their spells merely dig deeper into their own graves."
Mistwalkers, former bodyguards of the warlord, fell upon the party, joined by their master in his undead glory. Shades, formerly benign and wandering the crypt, shrieked angrily and joined the fray, possessing the mortals and turning them against their allies.
When the dust settled, the Dragon Punchers emerged triumphant, but at the cost of the integrity of the barrow. The destruction of Soren Chaleb had disrupted the magic bindings. The tomb began to spin out of control and tear itself apart. The party quickly fled lest they be trapped inside.
