General Summary
Micah went to continue Chari's work establishing the crime syndicate while Bart, Chari, Jinn, and
Emlyn went to investigate the Zaratan.
The Dragon Punchers followed Gyrden down a set of rough-hewn steps to a shelf of rock overlooking the entirety of the Zaratan's cavernous interior. Massive stalactites hung from the ceiling. Crystalline structures not unlike trees and other flora rose up from the floor. The enormity of it all was awe-inspiring.
As the group discussed a plan to reach the ground, Chari spotted a large creature resting on a large rock shelf across the cavern. Based on the description, Bart suspected it may be a Whiffling-- a dangerous, dragonoid creature. They would do best to avoid it.
With some help from Emlyn, the Dragon Punchers made their way to the floor of the cavern and begin to pick their way through the interior of the Zaratan. Their first setback proved to be a large patch of prismatic mold blocking the path. The group opted to avoid it. As Jinn was investigating alternative routes he discovered a man's body. The individual appeared to have died of starvation, despite having rations on him. Further investigation yielded an unsettling revelation: the body lacked any spinal fluid. The presence of several desiccated leech-like creatures in his clothing suggested the nearby pools of water were best avoided.
Heading deeper led them to a chance encounter with a rock-eating caterprism. Jinn crept underneath the stalactite where it was feasting and absconded with a few gem scraps it had dropped. As the undergrowth grew thicker, the ground began to soften and grow muddy. Without warning, the earth below the gave way to a giant sinkhole. No sooner had they scrambled to gain their bearings than the party was set up on by a group of mudmen.
With the last of creatures dispatched, the group searched for a method to escape the sinkhole. Chari, however, heard tell-tale screeches have a great beast overhead. Fearing it was the whiffling, the party opted to take their chances in the tunnels opened up by the sinkhole.
