The Kidnapping of Princess Myrwen

Princess Myrwen was barely three weeks old when she became the Catalyst that sparked the onset of the Continental Wars.   It is important to note that Caer Wen and the entirety of Bastion Island were cut off from the mainland and neither the Dragon nor anyone in his city had had any contact whatsoever with the outside world... and yet, forces that would later be revealed to be loyal to Lord Kroll somehow knew of not only the Dragon's presence on the Island but that he had a young child... More than that, they seemed to know exactly when and where to wait to abduct the young Princess.   From a very young age, with her Lord Father consolidating control of the city, and her Lady mother working on establishing the hospital and apothecary, Myrwen was cared for by her Nanny, an elderly lady called Alice.   The people of the city loved their Princess, the fulfillment of a prophecy that the Dragon could never fully understand, but her birth had helped stabilize the transition of power from the old Leadership to the new.   Each day, Alice would walk Myrwen the 2 miles down to the beach south of the city and back again.   On the evening of September 30th, they failed to return on time. The Dragon and his wife were starting to get concerned when Alice was spotted dragging herself toward the main gate... Seriously and critically injured, she told the Dragon and the guards that a group of men had attacked them on the beach before climbing into a small boat and sailing away.   The Dragon, able to sense and locate his Daughter through their Draconic bond, had shifted form and was in the air within moments, hunting down the men who would dare touch his child... His Lady wife barely had time to tell him to bring their daughter back safe before he was gone, Ladies Kiwi and Sam only a few seconds behind him.
The Dragon, his eyes an inferno of furious, wrathful fire, looked to his wife... the message clear: He would be coming back with their daughter, or not at all.
Lady Julie and the guards carried Alice to the hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries and died before she got there. Alice became the first casualty of the Continental War   It only took a few minutes for the Dragon to find his daughter's scent, and only a few minutes more to follow it towards the mainland, tracking the raiding party to a small camp a little South of what is now called the Windmill Pass.   Although all three Dragons were more than capable of completely destroying the camp on their own, there was no way to guarantee the Princess's safety from the air if the whole camp was attacked. It was decided that the Dragon would attack the outskirts of the camp from the air, while Lady Kiwi and Sam would attack on foot.
The Dragon, using the mindspeak, sent a message to Kiwi and Sam, there was no mistaking his tone.... "None of them live to see morning... but any man who has touched my child will die slow!"
The raiding party that had snatched Myrwen was only part of a greater force, with a few dozen men in the camp. Sam, using her shadows killed as many as she could while the Dragon decimated the outskirts and entry to the camp with colossal explosive fireballs, causing as much noise and distraction as possible.   Meanwhile, Kiwi, having shifted to her Otter form, used the undergrowth and brush to approach the tent in which Myrwen was being held. The Dragon's distraction and disappearance of Sam's victims had successfully lured all but a few of the guards away, and Kiwi was easily able to eradicate the rest   The Dragon landed when it became clear that his distraction was causing no further damage, cleaving and carving his way through the remaining enemy men until, between the three of them, all of the soldiers in the camp had been killed.   The only survivor was the woman who had been holding Myrwen when Kiwi cleared the central tent, Kileen. It didn't take long for her ruse of being an unwilling participant was broken down and Sam captured her in a soul disc to be taken back to her realm for 'questioning'   The Dragon had always considered himself to be on the right side of history and, even that morning, would never have condoned torturing an enemy combatant. But they had taken his daughter... all bets were off.   It took three days for Kileen to break, and even then, only partially. Our enemy had a name: Kroll. He and his army were operating on the mainland and fighting a war against another, unknown faction. But Myrwen, a baby Dragon, would have been a massive boost to his forces. Able to be tamed and controlled, brainwashed, if you will, into fighting for his side, the Dragon himself was proof of the awesome power his daughter would one day be able to match and bring to bear on his enemies. If she couldn't be used, she would be killed.   The Dragon had never wanted a war, but this was an act he could not overlook... Within 24 hours, the declaration of war had been made and the assembling of the army had started.
