Fortune's Favored

A nomadic group of adrenaline and thrill seekers that believe Tiva has blessed them with divine fortune in all their ventures. They will throw themselves off cliffs into rivers, ski down mountains, charge into fights with no armor, and freehand solo climb up sheer cliffs. They have achieved great feats of athletic prowess and invented ways to achieve greater thrills than ever before but this comes at a cost of many lives that were not as fortunate as they believed.   The group is mainly made up of humans, half elf, and half orcs, with occasional individuals from other races. Instead of being formed around families, they are more likely to be individual young adults that have broken off from their old lives to join up with this sect. They are practically addicted to adrenaline, and have to keep achieving higher and higher thrills to get their fixes. There are a few older members of the sect who have lived through truly terrifying and exhilarating feats referred to as Horizon Chasers, and they are looked upon as the elders and leaders of the Favored.   Chasers are in charge of collecting tithes to Tiva from the younger members. They join the group with nothing, and are expected to collect gold through demonstrations of their feats and collecting donations from other citizens. If Tiva smiles upon them, then they will find their own fortune somehow. Typically, the Chasers will take a tithe from them and record how much gold each member has contributed. If that member dies, then their share of gold will be used for their funeral costs.   The Fortune's Favored are relatively well known across all of Caesium, as their death-defying stunts can draw large crowds when they are in town, but there are other people who are not as sure that they are the relatively innocent sect that they appear to be. Some people worry about sabotage on the inside, especially from the Chasers, who may be more than willing to let some things slide to trim the fat of their group if some members just can't handle it. There is a lot of stigma attached to leaving, as if the member is turning their back on belief in Tiva and can't hack it in the group. Therefore, if they believe someone needs to be eliminated, there are rumors among people outside the sect that the Chasers will incite a little unfortunate accident for them during their next attempt.
