This creature is only known to the Alchemists Guild and if a someone outside the alchemist guild would see the creature, they would not recognise it. Maybe one might recognise certain features, but they would not add up to that one specific creature. The Alchemist Guild created the creature over a long time with carefull breeding, feeding and experimental magic, sometimes with a disasterous ending. Alchemists where able to create an animal that is capable of producing quantities of socrod liquid, used in the preparation of the ingredients important in the devamped essence. There are other ways to get the ingredient, but having this animal makes it more easy to produce the basis for the essence.

Engineering Artificial Life

The animal is an artificial lifeform and engineerded. They started a long long time ago with a komodo dragon, added some compounds from a Iguana and a armadillo. Hargold added a few parts of a Elephant (some say by accident or other say on purpose as bigger animals produce more essence) we will never know as the [dragon-like animal] did eat his creator.

the current and most recent creature is about 2 feet long. (exluding the 1 to 3 feet long tail) and creates about a flask (200 to 300 ml) basic essence. Enough for several portions. The quality of essence is depending on the stress levels experienced by the creature. More stress makes the essence less effective. There are some theories about what food would be best, and the creature picks his own food. It sometimes catches rodents like mouses or rats.
