Civil action
The Great Rift started almost as soon as the Culvarkt clan returned to the underground. In their absence unrest had grown, as the remaining dwarves had been nearly overrun multiple times by the shadowy threats that now ran rampant in their once great kingdom.
The Great Rift started almost as soon as the Culvarkt clan returned to the underground. In their absence unrest had grown, as the remaining dwarves had been nearly overrun multiple times by the shadowy threats that now ran rampant in their once great kingdom. The surviving clans were neatly split over what to do...stand and fight to recover their lands, or flee to safer locations and attempt to resettle and rebuild. The heads of the two clans, the Culvarkti and the Fouveinians nearly warred themselves in the ensuing debates, one bound by a sense of duty and the other the desire to ensure survival in the face of insurmountable odds. The Rift was unavoidable according to many, as the merits of both arguments were valid, the heads of house were both too stubborn to look for commonality, resulting in a silent feud that would outlive them both. In the end, the Culvarkt left the Dwarven halls and joined the Hiversteadian people in the mountains above who would serve as a neutral go-between for the Dwarves, keeping the peace and allowing some degree of trade to ensure the survival of both.
