Revolution

Almost quickly as the Blight fell, the dissention tore apart the human communities. Horrified by what they had been party to by proxy or directly, a civil war erupted across the face of the already broken lands. Divisions between caste and class led to rift after rift between the many facets of the once great Becht Empire. The remaining clerics, now abandoned by their gods, tried their best to hold it together, but with their own faith waning, it was only a matter of time before the clergy was scattered and left faceless in the turmoil. In the beginning, there were many factions at play. THe remaining Becht loyalists still held tremendous financial power due to their vast stockpiles of resources, but as the wars raged on, the agricultural people splintered and left the battle, marching off in a peaceful withdrawal to fairer lands, eventually settling and becoming the Ongommu Tae. The Hiversteadian Legion, questioning the wisdom of their former commanders and tired of fighting wars for those without an honorable basis, seperated from within the Becht armies, lashing out at their former comrades in arms in the midst of a particularly bloody battle and cleaving their own path through to the other side to stand alone and unopposed, while the folk who would eventually go on to be called the Ventrytes utilized stealth and subterfuge to get their people out and away from the fighting, longing for a taste of true freedom unhindered by the yoke of authority. They pushed far beyond the borders, originally intent on making a life with the friendly small folk that lived on the borders of the Elven forests. The war flared and smoldered for nearly a decade before all that was left were the remaining four factions.
