Welcome to Cairngorm

Cairngorm is one of the Northern most regions of the Forgotten Realms. Until recently Cairngorm was relatively isolated. Located North West of the continent of Faerun, travel between the regions became more pronounced after The Breaking, a seismic event caused by the relocation of the Elven province of Dal Riada. The act of breaking away form the mainland of Cairngorm sent tremors throughout the Northern Hemisphere that could be felt all the way in Faerun. The tremors did not garner much attention at the time. But over the next five centuries it led to the slow breakdown of the ice shelf that had previously made passage between Cairngorm and Faerun nearly impossible. The Dal Riadan were the first to make contact with Faerun, sparking interest in this new and foreign land. Since then many have started traveling between the two continents, some in search of new lands, others for treasures, and still more looking to run from their pasts.
