The Archbishop: Eamon Vallant
The Order is a powerful human institution, protecting people from magic and dabbling in a new monotheistic religion. At the pinnacle of this formidable organization is the position of the Archbishop, an individual vested with immense power and authority.
Archbishop Eamon Vallant, a man of stern countenance and unwavering determination, currently holds this daunting title. A devout follower of the Order's doctrine since his youth, Vallant had ascended through its ranks based on his fervor and an unshakeable conviction of performing evil in the necessity of his mission.
Despite the industrial revolution's scientific advancements, Vallant saw the allure of the arcane arts as a potent threat to societal stability. He believed that magic was inherently volatile and a tool that could be easily abused by those with ill intentions. Rumour has it that his harsh stems from witnessing the destructive aftermath of a rogue mage's wrath, which had decimated his home village when he was but a boy.
Under Vallant's leadership, the Order has adopted a ruthless and highly efficient approach towards mage hunting. Any suspected practitioners of magic were either forcibly conscripted into the Order's custody for 'rehabilitation', exiled or at worse executed. As the influence of the Order spreads, Archbishop Vallant is a figure that is both feared and respected.
However, his singular vision has also sowed division, with many believing that the outright prohibition of magic disregarded the inherent balance between the mystical and the mechanical. This puts the Order at odds with many of the other races, especially the elves, where tensions have been running high in the current years. Yet, Vallant remained unmoved by these criticisms, driven by his fervent belief that the humanity's only way to salvation is through the eradication of the arcane. Vallant has the leading role in raising the anti-magic sentiment, and he does not intend to stop until the world is completely free of magic.
