How to swear in Calandyrion
Many use the “Great Maker” insult but few no its beginnings. While many believe in the Great Maker as a creator deity all know that this particular god takes no active interest or intervention on behalf of his creations. However, this particular little ditty has been around ever since the first aware creature began to recognize that there had to be something out there that existed before the first lifeforms and the Gods created by intelligent life. So, oft times when someone is frustrated they can be heard uttering “Great Maker” knowing full well that there will be no help coming from that direction,
Now, say someone says or does something really dumb those around them may slap their foreheads with the palm of their hand and mutter “Great Maker” in recognition of the stupidity of what was said or the actions of the other person. Or, say someone hits their thumb with a mallet they will flick their hand around while shouting “Great Maker” while someone stubbing their toe might hop on one foot while shouting “Great Maker”.
As you can see, the term “Great Maker” can be substituted for any jibe, affront, slight, abuse or situation that needs a stand in for any other swear when in the presence of the children or in the company of polite society.
Imagine your day is going along quite well and you see or hear something dumb, outrageous, unexpected or your day has taken an unexpected or dismaying turn of events remember you can always throw your hands in the air and scream “Great Maker” and your day may or may not improve but it will not be because you offended the Great Maker in any way, shape or form because everyone knows that the Great Maker just don’t care a wit about your problems just how you go about handling them.
