The Tower at Dunlee

Nestled in a shallow cove atop an islet off the western shore of the Isle of Dunlee stands the remains of a tall tower. Standing around half it's original height, nearly seventy feet of crumbling stone walls still stand proud on the land. The remnants of a large hall sit beside the tower, a large section of wall obviously crushed by the top of the tower before it came to rest in the narrow channel that separates the islet from the isle.   An excerpt from The Isle of Dunlee

Purpose / Function

The Tower of Dunlee was built by a noble who had claimed the Isle of Dunlee for himself. The tower was built as a personal banquet hall to rival those in Caldara and Dalmore.   After the noble family line ended, the Isle and tower passed to the crown, where the king repurposed the tower as a watchtower. It had a spectacular vantage of nearly fifteen miles and could give advance notice to the northern or southern cities.

History

The need for the watchtower was declared unneccessary after two years and a summer went by without a single raven having been sent. After it was abandoned, the King gifted it to his retiring wizard, Lufian, for his years of service to the crown. Lufian outlived his king, and the the next two monarchs following. People became wary of the tower and it's inhabitants due to the smells and strange phenomena witnessed at this island. The Isle of Dunlee itself was abandoned after a strange, floating, creature drove the people from the island. To this day no-one knows how the tower was destroyed. It is believed that it occurred on the Day of Agony. The sky darkened and a scream was heard across the land. The islet is not off limited but people avoid going there. They describe the area is giving off a foreboding feeling, and people claim that there are bright green, flashing lights at night.
