For Inktober this year I set myself a specific challenge. I will write a 31 sentence story using the prompts
Sentences must appear in the story in the same order of the prompts
Each sentence must allude to the prompt without actually using the word of the prompt (or a form thereof). For example, I can say "lure" but not "bait" for day 3, or simply describe something as tempting.
No superfluous sentences. There will be 31 grammatically correct sentences at the end. Compound sentences using semicolons or conjunctions are allowed, as are other grammatical trickery such as dependent clauses, verbal phrases, explanatory post-colon bits, and parenthetical remarks.
On a similar note, 31 sentences means not doubling up on prompts in one sentence.
As a side note, any sentence can refer to any prompt it isn't fulfilling, even using the word ("bait" can be used in any sentence not day 3) but doesn't fulfill more than one prompt.
Go for style. Make some really cool, evocative sentences. Style over smooth narrative. Smooth narrative can be done by breaking the rules in a second draft.
