Patroclus' Jealousy
A snippet based on Jealous by Eyedress
He could see Achilles talking to him. Of course, why wouldn’t Achilles want to spend time with the tall mountain of sexy that held his heart from years ago? It made logical sense for the most perfect person to gravitate towards someone more meaningful than… him.
As if his thoughts had been spoken aloud, Achilles turned towards him. He could see a soft smile on the other’s face before they turned back towards Icarus.
Patroclus let out a sigh and looked away at that, he really wished that he was where Icarus was standing. Under his breath he grumbled, “You could have anyone you want, why would you wanna be with me?”
“Well, that’s because I love you, silly!” The response shocked Patroclus and he looked up, coming face-to-face with Achilles.
He nodded. Of course he would say that he loved Patroclus. They were engaged, after all. But what if he didn’t want to be with him anymore now that Icarus was back in the picture?
Pat remembered when they were first introduced to each other, how Achilles would mope and wail about how his love had left him, abandoned him there without a second thought.
The couch dipped as Achilles sat down next to Patroclus. They sat in silence for a moment before Achilles spoke in a hesitant voice, saying, “Icarus and I have a history”-
“Stop talking ‘bout your past! I don’t want to hear it.” An ugly lump of jealously settling in his throat as he spoke. It made him want to curl up in a ball and disappear. He pulled his legs up and buried his face in his knees as he continued, “I don’t really want to know.”
There was a beat of silence before he heard Achilles shifting next to him. The couch shifted as a weight left it.
Then, he felt a hand on his calf. With a light squeeze of the muscle, Achilles spoke: “Patroclus. Icarus and I have a past, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love you. I am engaged to one man and he is right in front of me.
“Plus, I’d be damned if I got between whatever if happening with Icarus and Apollon. Have you seen them? If they don’t fuck soon we’re gonna have to start carrying a machete to hack through the tension!”
Patroclus chuckled at that. Achilles was right, but that didn’t stop the grumbling pit of jealousy in him from rearing its ugly head.
“You could have anyone you want, why would you want to be with me?” Pat looked up at the blonde in front of him. The fight had left his tone, he had used up the miniscule amount of anger and jealousy he had left in him. He didn’t want to fight anymore; he wasn’t worth the fight.
“You know I’m nothing special…”
