Nimue
Nimue (a.k.a. Lady of the Lake)
Nimue, also known as Niviene, Lady of the Waters, Lady of the Lake, and the Architect of Legends, is a Noble Sidhe (archfey) of Faerie and the ancestor of fey of waters such as nymphs, naiads, nereids, and rusalka.
She is well known among elves for her part in a story involving a powerful arcanist who courted her only to later break a promise to her in favor of a friend. This arcanist was said to have been captured and locked away in a crystal cave that would be their prison. A cautionary tale to never break your word with a fey.
She, or a creature of the same name, also plays a part in several legends of heroes. The greatest of these involves the gifting, creation, or enchantment (depending on the telling) of a legendary sword capable of killing the immortal, given to a mortal king as part of a deal.
