Welcome to CyberCal Radio, your information network!
Nuremberg today consists of the former urban areas of Nuremberg, Fürth, Erlangen and Schwabach. It is the only megacity in Franconia and one of two in Bavaria.
Today, the city is known for its mixture of history and ultra-modern Biotech, which coexist closely and create a bizarre cityscape.
Corporations
No city exists without any corporations having their fingers in the pie. Nuremberg is home to six larger corporations, in addition to countless small businesses.
Demographics
Before the Millennium Crash, Nuremberg had less than half a million inhabitants. Today it is over 5.4 million. The city has grown faster than it was healthy for it, and immigration from the surrounding country and abroad has only worsened the situation.
Of these 5.4 million inhabitants, about 1.5 million are currently employed in the large local corporations. A further 1 million work for smaller companies and enterprises, which in turn belong to the large corporations, but to which a different label has been affixed.
About half of the population belongs to the so-called faceless, the people who have no corporate ID and no ID chip. They get by with criminal machinations, belong to one of the many gangs in the city or work as day labourers for one or the other company when they are needed. The poverty in this population group is unimaginably great, violence, robbery, murder and rape are the order of the day - and nobody cares about it as long as no members of the corporations are affected.
Since vampire chronicles can also take place in Calyria, it should at least be stated here how many vampires the city can feed. This is based on the V5 regulation, which provides for 3000 people for each vampire. However, since it is more difficult to feed on company employees, this should be increased to 5000 people/vampire. That still leaves a playground for about 1000 vampires, which is quite a lot for a city.
The relationship between men and women has shifted massively as a result of the strictly anti-male laws of recent decades. About 75% of the population are women. Only about 10% of the men living in the city are married, another 15% have a permanent relationship with a woman.
As a result, birth rates have fallen massively. Only 2% of all women under the age of 40 gave birth to a child. The average age within the city is 53 years, which will lead to a significant ageing problem in the near future.
About 60% of the children were born into a corporation. Only 20% of all children under 10 years within the city can read and write, most children under the age of 10 are analphabets.
