Svosinskian (Svoh-sinsk-ee-an)
Svosinskians are the native people to the Svosinsk continent. They are not a singular race, but a collection of races that found their origins in the taiga continent. They are known to be hardy, cautious and paranoid people, sometimes outright hostile to outsiders. Humans, goliaths, dwarves, gnomes, bugbears and owlin are common natives to the continent. Svosinkian is also the name of the dialect of Common in the area.
Svosinskian clothing is mostly designed for practicality rather than fashion, often made with wool and animal furs in order to keep as much heat in as possible. Commoner clothing is usually drab, lacking colour and often rough hewn, while noble clothing tends to be a little more soft and vibrant, often in vivid blues, whites or reds, along with excessive amounts of jewellery in order to display their wealth. Heavy fur boots are common regardless of class, though the more destitute usually only wear linen or fur foot wraps, or made from any other material they can scavenge. Skis are common in many Svosinskian homes, and are necessary to traverse through deep snow drifts that Svosinsk can experience.
Svosinskians are often believed to be miserly, pessimistic, rough but hardy people who make poor company. A common belief is that a Svosinskian will only offer their company to someone if they plan to rob them, and so many other residents of Cambrium are wary of the people from the continent. Similarly, a stereotype of Svosinskians is that they have ugly men but beautiful women. Svosinskian culture is very individualistic in practise, following a 'every person for themselves' dogma that breeds an isolated, paranoid perception of one's neighbours, where helping another is seen as suspicious rather than altruistic.
Despite this, Svosinsk is a rich continent due to the export of high quality and rare metals and minerals from the portion of the Dragon's Throat mountains that cut the land in two, as well as having the largest reserve of natural empyrean - Cambrium's fuel source - in the world. As such, Svosinsk has a surprisingly low number of homeless or destitute people, as even the outlanders that live in the wilds do so fairly comfortably.
