Sixbolt

Through much of Canton's history, gunpowder was a secret kept by the seven human ships.  Even when the Jae Sang defected during the Age of Annihilation, the technology was largely ignored except by ships and cannons.  Through much of the age of stagnance, little was done with the resource.
Just 50 years before the formation of the Northern States, an Olbrich Gnome managed to perfect and miniturize the cannon and blunderbuss into a compact design.  This small, one-handed version fit six bolts into it at one time, and was able to fire them in rapid succession.  Though still rare, this became the go-to weapon for those that could afford one.  The design and manufacturing is still highly secretive, and handled in a hidden factory somewhere in the Mundus mountains.
