Formian

The Hive

Basic Information

Anatomy

Formians appear as giant insects. The are usually seen walking on four legs, with their thorax up right with two arms wielding weapons. They have fierce mandibles that can easily pierce flesh.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Formian Queen will lay eggs that are fertilized by her elite warrior captains. The eggs will incubate for weeks until a biological host can be found to impregnate the egg with. The larvae will hatch and eat their way outside the host.

Growth Rate & Stages

After hatching, the larvae quickly grow to Formian pupa. The adult Formains will carry the pupa around on their backs feeding them until the grow strong enough to hunt on their own.

Ecology and Habitats

Formians are known to inhabit caves and underground recesses of the Ruby Mountains.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Formian is constantly collecting food for its queen so she can produce more offspring.

Social Structure

Each hive has a queen who commands her drone forces for the betterment of the hive. Superior warriors are given weaponry or advanced body modifications to make them more dangerous to foes of the hive.

To date, Formians have only been spotted in the Ruby Mountains of the Three Hearths.

The average drone is of nominal self preservation levels of intelligence. The Queen should be considered a wise a dangerous mind.

All Formians are mentally linked with their hive's Queen, obeying her orders without question.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Formians have been known to use various forms of biological life as hosts for its larvae and pupa, including the human settlers of Three Hearths.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

On 17 Aldeber, 476 IC the Formian-Naporian Treaty was crafted between Price Ailiona and the Queen of the Naporian Hive to cease hostilities between the two groups.
