Elves

Basic Information

Anatomy

Usually, true elves are a naturally slender and athletic race. Elves have a similar range of complexions to humans, with some living deep in the forests having typically coppery or pale skin. Often, elven hair was dark, either brown or black, with copper red or blond hair also rarely found, although orange or even green hues were not completely unheard of. Elven eyes were commonly brown, hazel, or an emerald green. Elves are considered fair and beautiful, handsome, and had pointed ears and no body hair except eyebrows, eyelashes, and hair.

Genetics and Reproduction

Elves have a pregnancy period that lasts about a year.

Growth Rate & Stages

By the age of 1, Elves can speak, walk and dance. Puberty and full height are attained at around their fiftieth year, when they stop aging physically. They are considered adolescents until they reach the age of 100, and are considered elders after they reach the age of 700 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

The elves, as a whole, preferred these secluded places of nature to the cities and nations of the civilized world, living in harmony with their natural surroundings. They thrive in the dense magical forests of Southern Caphollia, but have also taken to living in the low mountains and surrounding grasslands as well.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Elves are more preternaturally aware of their surroundings than most other races, as well as possessing better common sense. This has aided elves in many ways, allowing them a high degree of perceptiveness that they could lend partially to allies. Additionally, elves were extremely accurate in their attacks, having a degree of precision that would be unusual for other humanoids.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Elves receive one name given to them by their fathers, and receive another name from their mother, which is a more personal name that they use among their close family.

Relationship Ideals

Elves marry freely, monogamously, only once, and adultery is unthinkable. Betrothal, with the exchange of rings, lasts at least a year, and is revocable by the return of the rings, but is rarely broken.
