Vampires
Vampires used to not be allowed to drink human blood at all. It was a crime which was punishable by death. They were forced to drink from animals or other supernaturals, which meant that many died at a very young age or did not develop their abilities to full capacity due to lack of nutrients. Many also died as a result of challenging the law and feasting on humans.
The invention of the Arti-Blood Nutritional Supplement allowed vampires to be less feared by society. Because they can now be satisfied without the need of a human, they became more accepted in social circles and less likely to be shunned and shamed by a way of life they cannot control.
Recent campaigning saw the law change to allow vampires to bite, but not turn, humans who give their consent to it. This practice is still frowned upon in many places, and humans who let themselves be fed on are looked down on by many, but this stigma is slowly fading. Turning a human a vampire is still a crime punishable by death.
Vampires have recently been allowed to marry humans; their partners are usually the only ones whom they are allowed to drink from.
They originated from what is now the Northern Kingdom.
