Aelianus

Geography

Aelianus is the smaller of Carina's two moons. It is further from Carina than Eladris, the planet's major moon. Aelianus is a small baren rocky asteroid. Although it is oblong, the two large mountain ranges along its length make it appear more spherical. Little is known about the moon's specific makeup and resources because it can currently only be studied from using telescopes.

History

There are astronomical and astrological records of Aelianus in even the earliest records and papers and on all of the known continents. Although some believe that the moon was picked up during the early 1000s AvGa, its orbit is too stable for this hypothesis to be accepted.   Because the two moons of Carina rarely coincide in their phases, the days when they are both full or new have become festivals, although they are complete opposites. During a dual full moon light, life, vitality, growth, and tradition are celebrated. Whereas during a dual new moon, darkness, death, and lifelessness, but also rebirth. Such celebrations are extremely common in Western Famgus but they can also be found sprinkled throughout Famgus and Tarna. Curiously no records or trace of these traditions can be found in the Kelan Penisula, despite the area surrounding it having the second-highest participation rate in the known world.   There are many traditions surrounding the birth of a child on one of these days. These traditions vary wildly between countries, regions, and even villages. The most common one is that these children, particularly twins, will be given the names of the moons or a variant of these names. In some areas children born on the day of a new moon are left for dead, because they are thought to be cursed. But in other areas children born on the same day are celebrated as bringing hope for a better chance for the family, as a sign of rebirth for them.
