Cvetkov's Disease

Causes

Cvetkov's Disease is caused by a medication created by Doctor Ilarion Cvetkov for convulsive fits, called Fardal, although scientists are unsure what in Faradal causes Cvetkov's Disease.

Symptoms

Symptoms of Cvetkov's Disease begin to show very quickly. It starts with fevers and chills. This stage often lasts two or three days and can also include vomiting, diarrhea, and hallucinations. In the second stage, hallucinations are present in all patients along with extreme mood shifts, tiredness, and inability to sleep. The final stage continues for the rest of the patients' life. This stage includes extreme mood swings, compulsive behavior related to obsessive thoughts, and sporadic fever spells. Other symptoms can appear such as an extremely short attention span, extreme and more frequent epileptic spells, and difficulty falling asleep.

Treatment

Unfortunately, Cvetkov's Disease is untreatable. Although stopping the consumption of Fardal keeps the disease from killing, any deterioration caused by the medication cannot be reversed. While the severity of some symptoms can be decreased or releaved with other medications, there is no cure.

Prognosis

There are three stages of Cvetkov's Disease the first stage can be difficult to spot as it contains mainly flu-like symptoms. This is unfortunate because if a patient discovers they have Cvetkov's Disease during this stage they can stop the disease from progressing before it leaves them with very serious symptoms. The second and third stages can not be mistaken for something other than Cvetkov's Disease but by this time discontinuing the consumption of Fardal will not keep the patient from these serious symptoms. Although some patients who stop taking Fardal when they notice symptoms of stage two do have fewer and less serious symptoms in stage three, this is uncommon and cannot be counted on.

Prevention

The only way to prevent Cvetkov's Disease is to never take Fardal, as this is also the only way to get the disease.
